Mobilní hospic Ondrášek

The Ondrášek Mobile Hospice is a non-profit organisation that has been providing free home care and professional assistance to terminally ill children and adults in and around the city of Ostrava, Czech Republic, since 2004. People in the terminal stages of disease and illness can thus stay in the environment they know, with their relatives and friends. Ondrášek pays regular visits to the homes of approximately 200 adults and 30 children in a year, provides psychological counselling to the bereaved, operates a palliative medicine clinic, and was the first hospice to also operate a children’s ward. Care is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is sustained by a team of doctors, nurses, a physiotherapist, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and priests.
